Start embracing difference by embracing diversity. Doing so increases change and innovation, improving decision making and quality of ideas, and ultimately leading to higher revenue. It is the right thing to do, and it is past time we ensure we are doing it.
Last week we looked at three different decision cycles – PDCA, DMAIC, and OODA. Now that we are familiar with all three, how can we leverage our knowledge to improve our personal decision making? How do we include data, analyze evidence, act on our decisions, and review results?
Thoughtful, effective leadership requires a purpose behind each decision that is made. We emphasize data-driven decision making, but should discuss gathering data as well as executing on the decision and checking on impact.
There are many ways we share knowledge at work. Intranets, portals, wikis, memos, knowledge bases – it is a nearly endless list. Improve accuracy and timeliness of updates by democratizing the knowledge management process and making it everyone’s responsibility to participate in knowledge creation.
